General questions

Pricing
How are the prices of the chromos and other prints determined?
Prices are based on various factors, including rarity, condition, and demand among collectors. At Vintage by Barbara, we aim to offer fair and market-based prices.

Are the chromos, porcelain cards and lithographs unused?
All chromos, porcelain cards and lithographs are purchased second-hand. They may come from collector’s albums where they were fixed or glued, which can leave traces of use such as impressions from holders, glue marks or light creases, often in the corners. Some items were stored in boxes or tied with rubber bands, which can cause sharper wear at the edges. We strongly advise you to check the photos carefully before ordering.

How is the grading “excellent – very good – good – acceptable” determined?
Grading is determined by us based on the physical condition of the prints, considering aspects such as colour retention, damage and signs of wear.

Can I request additional photos of a chromo series or a print before ordering?
Yes. This is certainly possible for series of which several sets are available but not all are shown on the site. We strive to be as transparent as possible.

Shipping

How is my order packed and protected?
All prints are carefully packaged with protective materials to ensure they arrive in good condition. We use sturdy envelopes or boxes and, where necessary, extra protection.

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs depend on the destination, weight and size of the package. The exact costs are calculated at checkout. For multiple purchases we combine shipping whenever possible to reduce costs.

After delivery

I am not satisfied with the condition of my order. What should I do?
Customer satisfaction is important to us. If you are not satisfied, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to discuss a return or refund. Our return policy is designed to provide a fair solution for both buyer and seller.

Product-specific questions

Liebig chromos

What do the numbers such as S910 mean?
These refer to the Sanguinetti catalogue:

  • “S” stands for Sanguinetti.

  • The number refers to the series in this catalogue.

Example: S910 means series 910 in the Sanguinetti catalogue.
On our site, the number may sometimes appear without the “S” (e.g. “910”).

Do all websites use the same notation?
Not exactly. Some use S0910, S_910 or S_0910. However, almost all Sanguinetti references start with “S” followed by the number.

What is the Sanguinetti catalogue?
It is a detailed reference guide listing all issued Liebig chromos, with information on themes, year of issue and rarity. It is an essential tool for collectors. The catalogue is also available through our website.

Porcelain cards
Can I get a detailed description or history of a porcelain card?
Yes. For each porcelain card we provide a detailed description. Additional information or photos are available on request.

Lithographs
Are the lithographs originals or reproductions?
All lithographs we sell are original and second-hand. They may show traces of use such as light wear or marks from previous mounting.

Greeting cards
What is the condition of the greeting cards you sell?
Our greeting cards are new. They are carefully selected and offered in perfect condition.
