General Questions

Pricing

How are the prices of the chromos and other prints determined?

Prices are determined based on various factors, including rarity, condition, and demand among collectors. At Vintage by Barbara, we strive to offer fair and competitive prices that reflect the actual market value.

Are the offered chromos, cards, and prints unused?

All chromos, porcelain cards, lithographs, and postcards are second-hand purchases. They may come from collectors' albums where they were either attached or glued. As a result, there may be traces of previous use such as an impression from the holder in an album, glue traces, or a crease, usually in the corners. Some prints were collected in boxes or between rubber bands, which may cause the wear on the edges to be slightly more pronounced.

Also, postcards are second-hand and are sold as not run, meaning not previously written on or stamped. We advise you to carefully view the accompanying photos of the items.

How is the assessment of excellent-very good-good-acceptable determined?

The assessment is made by our experts based on the physical condition of the prints, taking into account factors such as color retention, damage, and any signs of wear.

May I request a photo of a series of chromos or a card or print before I actually order?

Yes, of course. Especially for the series of which there are multiple sets available, and therefore not all can be viewed on the site. We do our best to be as transparent as possible.

Shipping

How is my order packed/protected for shipping?

All prints are carefully packed in protective materials to ensure they arrive in excellent condition. We use sturdy envelopes or boxes and, if necessary, additional protection.

How much will the shipping cost?

Shipping costs depend on the destination, weight, and size of the package. We aim to offer the most cost-efficient and reliable shipping options. The exact shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

When purchasing multiple sets, we try where possible to combine shipping costs to make it more economical for you.

Specific Questions

Liebig

What do the numbers listed with the Liebig Chromos mean, such as S910?

The numbers refer to their listing in the Sanguinetti Catalog.

For example, the reference Sxxxx means the following:

  • The S refers to the name of the catalog used: Sanguinetti.
  • The xxxx refers to the number in this catalog.

Thus, S910 stands for series 910 in the Sanguinetti catalog.

Can I find this notation everywhere on the internet?

Some sites use slightly different notations such as S0910, S_910, or S_0910.

However, almost all Sanguinetti notations start with an S and end with the assigned number.

What is the Sanguinetti Catalog?

The Sanguinetti Catalog is a comprehensive guide that catalogs all issued Liebig Chromos. It is an essential tool for collectors to find information about different series, including the year of issue, themes, and rarity.
