0916 – Scenes from Venezuela

This original Liebig trade card series, listed as Sanguinetti no. 916, was issued in 1907 under the title Bilder aus Venezuela (Scenes from Venezuela).

The six colourful illustrations offer a glimpse of Venezuela in the early twentieth century, depicting its impressive landscapes, inhabitants and remarkable South American wildlife.

The scenes include the surroundings of Caracas, the Sierra Nevada mountains, Puerto Cabello and the waterfalls near San Pablo. Various animals are also illustrated, including the toucan, sloth, condor, macaw, tapir, giant anteater, caiman and armadillo.

An attractive historical series for collectors of Liebig trade cards, vintage travel illustrations, geography and natural history.
