Côte d'Or Antarctic

The Côte d'Or Antarctic series consists of 164 collectable colour photo cards documenting the Belgian Antarctic Expedition of 1957–1959, led by Gaston de Gerlache. During this expedition, the King Baudouin Base was established in Antarctica.

In 1960, Côte d'Or published the Antarctic collector's album for the complete series of 164 photo cards. The images document the journey to Antarctica, daily life during the expedition, ships, vehicles, sled dogs and the spectacular Antarctic landscape.

A special detail for collectors: the logo of the Belgian Antarctic Expedition and the illustration on the album's title page were designed by Hergé, creator of Tintin.
