This literary Liebig chromo series – Sanguinetti no. 1295 – was published in 1934 and illustrates Inferno, the first part of Dante Alighieri’s iconic work The Divine Comedy. The six cards depict dramatic scenes from the underworld.
The scenes shown are:
Charon – ferryman of the Styx
Minos – judge of the dead
Cerberus – the three-headed hound
The Minotaur – guardian of the violent
Geryon – demon with a human face
Lucifer – frozen in the depths of hell
The reverse side includes explanatory text in French with promotional information about Liebig meat extract products. The set is in good condition with normal signs of age.
