This six-card Liebig series illustrates the symbolic role of gloves throughout history. Scenes include the glove as a succession token among the Germans, granting market rights in the Middle Ages, declaring war with a glove, giving white gloves to English jurors, the coronation gloves of German emperors, and gloves in French military recruitment. Each card bears the Liebig jar. Listed as No. 1142 in the Sanguinetti catalog.
Age-related wear on the corners; the chromos themselves are in very good condition.
