This Liebig chromo series – Sanguinetti no. 1583 – was issued in 1954 under the title Oude visserszeilschepen van de Belgische kust. 

The six cards depict authentic traditional fishing vessels from Blankenberge, Heist and Ostend: 

  • the Oostendse sloep, 

  • the Schipje, 

  • the Panneschuit, 

  • the Blankenbergse and Heistse schuiten, 

  • the Oostendse shrimp boat, and 

  • the last sailing fishing boats of the Belgian coast. 

The illustrations are based on original historical ship types and capture the rigging, colour patterns and harbour atmosphere typical of the early 20th century. This is the Flemish edition, printed in soft watercolour tones and clear lines characteristic of Liebig issues from the 1950s.

The series is in very good condition (VG+ to EX) with minimal corner wear and fresh colours. No tears, folds or discoloration.
