Small Prints, Big Stories
Welcome to the world of Vintage by Barbara
An old postcard, a colourful advertising print or an unusual little picture discovered at a flea market or forgotten among old papers. What may seem like a simple piece of paper today can tell a surprising story.
An advertising print reveals how products were promoted in the past. A postcard captures a street scene that may have changed beyond recognition. And a porcelain card catches the eye with its distinctive finish.
It is precisely these small discoveries that make the world of vintage prints so fascinating.
A Little Introduction
I'm Barbara.
For as long as I can remember, I have had a particular fondness for old books, documents and prints. I cannot quite explain why, but somehow they inspire a sense of respect in me. Perhaps because they have survived for so many years, or because they tell us something about a world that has changed so much.
What appeals to me about old prints is not only their beauty, but also the stories behind them. I am particularly drawn to Art Nouveau, Art Deco and the British Arts and Crafts movement.
An image from the 19th or 20th century can still be surprisingly relevant today. Sometimes it tells us something about everyday life in the past; sometimes it simply allows us to enjoy the atmosphere of a different era.
Personally, I cherish that sense of nostalgia, the simple beauty of these objects and the idea that some things are worth preserving. If only out of respect for the fact that they are still here.

A World of Discoveries
The world of old prints is wonderfully diverse.
Colourful Liebig trade cards tell stories of history, distant countries, traditional occupations and everyday life. Advertising cards from Chocolat Baron, Suchard and Hummel also offer a fascinating glimpse into the world of the past.
There are also porcelain cards, antique lithographs and vintage postcards. Some are miniature works of art, while others are simple images made special by their age. Each print is, in its own way, a reflection of the spirit of its time.

What Can You Expect Here?
Through this blog, I would like to share my interest in old prints and collectables.
You will discover surprising facts, fascinating details, little pieces of history and, of course, new additions to the collection.
Not every story needs to be a long one. Sometimes a single image is enough to reveal something interesting.
I hope to surprise both experienced collectors and curious visitors from time to time.
Perhaps you will recognise a print from years gone by, discover something new or find a lovely addition to your own collection.
Happy reading and browsing!
